"Hello, I am Malcer and that is true that we are looking for some more information about that bounty. And we thought that as the man running the protection of this town you might be able to assist us in this task."Malcer replied with a grin that seemed more devilish than that of his angelic ancestry.

Zar takes a seat at the bar and throws down 4 sp, as she waits for her food. She turns to the constable: "I am Zarissa. Would you like a meal to go with your ale?"

Dane looked to Malcer as he was speaking, nodding in agreement to confirm what Malcer was stating. "Aye. We come to rid this town of the plunderous deeds of the vile goblins. These good people here don't need this vile scum to interfere with their livelihoods. The only good goblin, is a dead one." Dane gave a sneer at the end of his statement. Dane hates goblins. He has a tumultuous past with them. The very sight of a goblin is enough to make his stomach churn, but not with disgust. It churns with a savage and burning anger.

Dane cleared his throat. "But we would be most appreciative if you would give us all the information you know of this goblin, so that we may better eviscerate him." The dragonborn said with a grin almost too big for his face.

The bartender sets the tankards down in front of the respective people.

Dargus looks over at Zarissa. "I would love a late breakfast, thank you young lady." He motioned for the rest of the party to sit. "Vixack is a cunning l'ttle bastard. Most of the goblins in this area aren't organized enough to openly attack caravans, that was until he came around and absorbed the local clans into his war party." He takes a swig of his ale. "Now they attack the kings and lords men. We know they are in Harken Forest north of the White River. But beyond that, we don't have much to go on. They raid along the King's Road that goes west to Fallcrest but not many live to say which way they go after they have finished their plunder." He takes a long, drawn out drink. After setting the tankard down, he wipes the bits of ale in his beard with his sleeve. "I'd take a group out and do it me'self but I'm too old and I'm pr'tty sure this bum leg would get me and me'men killed. Only if this was 10 years 'go..." His eyes wander away for a moment looking off into the distance.

"Bartender, an expensive meal for our friend, Dargus." as she puts down another 5 sp on the bar. "How soon will the food be done? I am getting hungry." asks Zar as her stomach starts to growl.

"Soon, my lady," the bartender responded. He slid the coins off the bar and walked back to the kitchen. "Urr'llec, a toppa for the constable." He returned with a clear bottle, that has a cloudy liquid inside of it, in his hand. He placed it in front of Malcer and a half dozen glasses. "Your White Rum."

"Aw thank you my good sir!"Malcer declared as he started to fill the glasses for everyone. Once he was finished he took a sip and proclaimed, "Now that is a fine drink!"

"So are there any details about how many he commands or even a rough estimate?" Malcer inquires after the Constable.

Mmm, fine indeed, thank you my friend! Next round is on me! I apologize for the quiet spell, must have needed a strong drink down the ol' pipe." Davros replied as he placed the money down for a second round. We'd really appreciate any information you could provide us on the matter!"

"Next round is on the half-elf with the hammer," the bartender said loudly.

The cook, who was identified as Urr'llec, walked out from the kitchen.

Urr’llec is a tall, burly, and broad shouldered half-orc. His pale green skin and cutting emerald eyes are contrasted by hands and arms covered in white flour. He lower jaw juts out and the two small tusks seen on orcs and half orcs curl up around his upper lips. He has matted black hair that seems rather long but is pulled back into a ponytail. He is in a simple green tunic and apron, however the apron is mostly covered in flour.

He holds two wooden plates in one arm and a third in his other hand. The moment he emerged from the kitchen you could smell the food and it smells amazing.

He speaks with a gruff and harsh tones, looking at the food, "I've got'a Toppa for the constable, and two reggies for the demon lady and the angel-dude. Hendricks, you've gotta stop making up outrageous nicknames for travel–" he sees the angelic Malcer and Demonic Zarissa and stops in his tracks. "Oh, those were literal, I apologize, I meant no offense."

He set down the larger of the meals in front of the constable and then two regular sized meal in front of Malcer and Zarissa. It consists of eggs, ham, and toast. The Constable's plate has the same but has bacon and a small purple spread of some sort.

Dargus turns to Malcer, "from what we've found dead and how brazen he has been we think a standard warband of 10-20 goblins, maybe up to 30. However with the amount of coordinated strikes they mostly stick to raiding parties of 3-6."

"Hmm. Well thank you for all this information. And this meal was wonderful, but I think it best that we start our way out to finding these... Oh how did Dane put it? Ah yes, these vile scum!" Malcer said as he patted his gut and slipped the remaining drink into his pack.

"I, too, believe that we should leave soon." Zara takes a swig of her mead. "However, I believe that we need to try to find out more specific information about what area of the northern harken forest the goblin hideout is in."

It's then, when suddenly the door to the tavern slams open.

In the doorway, silhouetted by the light of the late morning sun, there are two men, one standing who is supporting the other. Both men have large, jagged, bloody gashes across their arms, legs, and chest. The supported man is far worse than the other. The man carrying the other is adorned in rough, blood soaked, leather armor. His brown hair is matted with blood, dirt, and sweat. His brown eyes darting around. In the hand not supporting the heavily wounded blonde man, he holds a shortsword caked with dried blood and mud.

He wildly looks at you and shouts, "Help us, we were ambushed. Please, my friend is dying."

"Come everyone, let us help these men!" Dane bellowed aloud as he, with one arm, swiped everything off a nearby table for the more wounded man to lay upon. He looked to the less wounded man and, while helping the more wounded man onto the table, asked, "Where were you attacked? My friends and I were just on our way to rid the town of the goblin scourge before you entered."

Malcer rushes to aid the dying man placing his hands on the man as he grabbed his holy symbol [I cast Spare the Dying]. As he finishes his spell he looks around and asks the others, "I have only stabilized him. Can any of you aid him further?"

After being placed on the table and being casted on by Malcer. The unconscious man’s breathing became less labored but he was still fairly wounded. His friend turns to you all, “My name’s Charles and thank you, because he would have surely died.”

You all hear the sound of a stool slide out as the constable limped over the man. He had pulled out this very odd looking hexagonal glass jar. He opened it and began applying it to the wounds of the man (Healing Salve 1d4 +2 = 5). He softly spoke, “This should be enough to keep him from slipping back to the dark abyss of death. You’re next,” he motioned at the other man named Charles.

Charles after his friend had been taken care of sat down. “We were attacked by goblins along the King’s Road. About twelve miles back north, I was able to get us on a horse, it took us a little over an hour to reach here, I didn’t know where to go, I knew about this place but that’s it.”

    OVERLAND MOVEMENT RULES:
Without horses, the twelve mile hike along the road would normally take three hours but as the King’s Road is a cobbled stone road and is finely crafted and maintained it provides a 50% bonus to overland movement speed. As per rules on pg. 181 of the Player Handbook there are three paces when moving overland: fast, normal, and slow. Fast is 4 mph, Normal is 3 mph, and Slow is 2 mph, so being on the road increases that speed by 50%. If you are able to secure mounts would be able to double your overland movement if at full gallop (which last one hour with no harm coming to the animal).

"Constable! We require mounts! Consider these mounts a partial advance payment of our reward," Boomed the Red Dragonborn. Dane reached the front door, shoved it open, and with a plentiful amount of gusto, marched outside. Having studied the area off a map, he knew where the King's road was, as well as the approximate location 12 miles to the north.

"Come my friends, we ride to the north!"

Zar tosses 5gp to Charles and she starts to follow the dragonborn out the door and says "Here is for a room and food. I hope you and your companion feel better in a couple of days. Thanks for the information."

The man looking much better after the spell by Malcer and the Healing Salve from the Constable. His friend turned to you again, “thank you strangers, avenge my other friends. Finding such kindness is rare in these parts.”

Constable impressed by your generosity and selfless, “I have a half dozen horses near my home, let me show you,” he follows you out and leads you back across the stone bridge that crosses the White River. You all passed the town square to the 20 ft. high blackwood timber fenced area. He opens the large gates revealing his home within the timber walls. It is spacious inside the 120 foot long and 80 foot wide miniature fort, with three buildings: a main house and attached watchtower to the right and a large barn to the left. He escorts you to the barn and opens it up. Inside, there are various brown light horses numbering six in total. He hands each of you saddles and bit and bridles and assists in getting you ready to go. “As long as you bring them back in one piece, no charge, kill those gobl’n bastards.”

You all set out at a full gallop following the King’s Road. Seeing the damage firsthand what these goblins are doing to this town and its surrounding areas, you know you might have to do more than just put down their leader. The blue sky that had a few puffy clouds you all saw earlier has shifted into a gray overcast with the humidity increasing, causing the air to feel thick and heavy. With the sounds of hooves on cobblestone you all storm along the road to where the men had said they were attacked.

Does anyone want to do anything while riding for an hour, or anything once we grow nearer?

While riding at full gallop, Dane grinned widely the entire way. At the front of the group, Dane looked back at the others and said, "This day reminds me of the battle of my hometown against a goblin scourge we had there. Rain, mud, BLOOD! This will be a glorious battle!" He declared defiantly, with hearty laughter.

As the party grows closer, Zar sings an inspiring war melody "Forth to the battle! Onward the fight, Swift as the eagle in his flight! Let not the sunlight o'er our pathway close, Till we o'erthrow our Saxon foes.
Strong as yonder foaming tide, Rushing down the mountainside; Be ye ready, sword and spear, Pour upon the spoiler near.
Winds! that float o'er us, Bid the tyrant quail, Ne'er shall his ruffian bands prevail! Morning shall view us fetterless and free, Slaves ne'er shall Cymry's children be. Heaven our arms with conquest bless, All our bitter wrongs redress; Strike the harp! Awake the cry! Valour's sons fear not to die."
    and inspires Malcer.

Malcer you have a d6 inspiration dice that you can use on: Ability Checks, Saving Throws, and Attacks.

After about forty minutes of riding you begin to enter the Harken Forest, the road is a distinct and contrast to the dense sycamore forest. With the rousing battle song by Zar you come upon a grizzly scene.

The road narrows as it passes through a small depression in the landscape. Up further you see near the narrowest part of the two surrounding escarpments a slain horse still strapped to a four wheeled wagon. There are various streaks of blood and gore but from this distance you see no bodies beyond the singular horse. You all dismount and draw closer.

Place you characters on the follow map/link within 10 feet of the left edge of the map: GOOGLE BATTLEMAP.
Note you will need to sign into google drive to edit it.
